Victim?

We heard that former coach June Burrow was talking about our family to a juvenile student at ROISD Junior High, on school property. After everything our family's been through at ROISD, we were not just going to accept this.

I sent an email to Principal Teer, Superintendent Niven, and School Board President John Hawkins insisting that this be addressed. As I stated in the email, we have no problem with Coach Burrow whining to like minded adults on her own time about her "victimhood". BUT, when she has conversations about us with students Ryann's age, on school property, that is unacceptable.

I sent the email on December 11, 2007 and didn't hear back from a representative of the ROISD by December 17, 2007, so I generated an Open Record Request seeking what action the district took over my complaint.

The district fought us over providing us the information I legally sought, pleading a case to the Attorney General of Texas to allow the District to withold the requested information.

After weeks and weeks of waiting for a ruling, the Attorney General directed the District to release "exhibit E" that the District didn't want us to have.

Finally, in a letter dated to us March 25, 2008, over three months later, Superintendent Scott Niven released to us three (3) emails that were exchanged between him and Principal Kathy Teer regarding my emailed complaint.

Note that Teer tells Niven that she spoke with "J.B." (June Burrow) and states she directed her not to discuss the cheerleading situation on school property.

Also note that when Niven asked Teer if Burrow had been talking the issue with "people", the proper question would have been if she had been discussing it with students.

Teer awnsers, "She does not recall but she could not deny it."

What does that mean? She can't recall, but she can't deny? Obviously the district feels that Burrow was lying to them, otherwise, why would they go to the Attorney General to attempt to withhold this exchange from us?

These adults, employed by or associated with the Red Oak ISD are not the victims! My daughter is!

Just last week I met with Assistant Superintendent Russ Schupmann for a "level 2" complaint against ROISD Police Department Chief Scott Lindsey over Lindsey's disparaging comments he made in two emails to a local reporter.

We have a report that the wife of one of the school board members was attacking my character at a volleyball game.

We do not care what these people think of us, or say about us in private conversations. When they attack us publicly, from their position of employment or association with the district, we will not accept that.

The Johnson family still lives in this town, the victim in all this is a now 14 year old girl, and if local public employees and politicos cannot handle being taken to task for what they did or didn't do in their official capacity, they need to step down.
